Corona Australis, (Latin: “Southern Crown”) also called Corona Austrina, constellation in the southern sky, at about 19 hours right ascension and 40° south in declination. The brightest star, Alphecca Australis, is only of the fourth magnitude. Corona Australis contains one of the nearest molecular clouds, which is about 420 light-years from Earth. The ancient Greeks thought this constellation represented a wreath of leaves.
