Chitradurga, also called Chitaldrug, city, eastern Karnataka state, southern India. It is situated in an upland region, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Vanivilasa Lake.

Chitradurga is a cotton-trading centre and terminus of a spur railway line in the Hagari River valley, and it has industries that include cotton ginning and pressing. The city is the site of massive fortifications erected by Hyder Ali of Mysore in the 18th century. Remains of the 2nd-century-ce city of Chandravalli are to the west. Vanivilasa Lake, formed by impounding the waters of the Hagari River, provides irrigation for rice, sugarcane, and cotton in the surrounding area. Pop. (2001) 122,702; (2011) 140,206.
