Penryn, English Channel port, Cornwall unitary authority, southwestern England. It lies at the head of the River Penryn’s estuary, just northwest of Falmouth.

The town owes its development to the bishops of Exeter, who granted the first charter (1265). James I (reigned 1603–25) granted and renewed the charter of incorporation.

Penryn is the principal English port for the shipment of granite, which is extensively quarried in the vicinity. Pop. (2001) 6,227; (2011) 7,093.
