Videoconferencing

videoconferencing, also spelled video conferencing, refers to the transmission of pictures and imagery (via video) and sounds (via audio) between two or more physically separate locations. Once the sole province of the corporate boardroom, videoconferencing is used today in telemedicine, distance education, theatrical productions, political trials, and other circumstances in which the ability to “be here now” is desired. Travel fears immediately following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks combined with later technological advances seem to have bolstered market interest in videoconferencing even further.
